In This Issue: Jamapalooza | New Bike-Bus Route | Upcoming Jams | Wishlist | City Council Jam

On World Car Free Day 242 fired-up people on bikes, unis, and skate boards joined one of 7 neighborhood bike-buses and converged at City Hall then jammed over to Buckingham Fountain. Then, as the sun was setting we blocked DSLD in both directions. It was an epic milestone and organizing feat for our totally grassroots movement. Seriously, our organizers are awesome! Let’s keep flexing our bike jam muscles! More coverage on Streetsblog and Block Club. And some video.
New Bike-Bus Route
S. Halsted Bike Bus launches Wednesday 9/29. Looking forward to a three-way bike-bus convergence of N. Halsted and Milwaukee routes. Always fast, free, and fun. So, get onboard.
Upcoming Jams
  • More branded BGN safety vests will make us more visible/safe but will also show that we’re more than a ragtag mob. Each one costs about $25. Kick in if you can!
  • A cool place to host a retreat and party. Got a connection at a brewery or other event space? Hit us up!
Thank you for believing in us!. Let’s keep on jammin’ and make the city-wide bike grid a reality!
City Council Jamming
Shout out to all the folks who rode the bike-buses to City Hall for the City Council Jam! We had a strong showing and did a die-in on the Randolph side of City Hall. CPD gave us a couple warnings and then we cleared out. If you’ve never laid in the street while looking up at the sky and blocking traffic for five minutes, then you’ve got one more chance this year. The last City Council meeting before the holidays is October 19, so plan to be there!
